Grant-title: Improving the lives of our recipients in the flight path
Grant-purpose: Our purpose is to counter the detrimental impacts of living in the flight path by providing nutritious food and the tools and skills to be more self sustaining possibly allowing the ability to save for better windows or other equipment that could help mitigate the noise.
Total-cost: We currently provide food and gardening supplies for approximately $178/person/year. By our calculations we are helping roughly 300 people in the impacted zone. That comes to about $53,400 for that area per year.
Total-budget: Our total expenses are 103,950.00 and our total revenues are 1,388,842.00 including in kind donations.
What-is-project: Our project helps feed people who are in demographics that are disproportionately impacted by various types of pollution and environmental hazards which shorten their life spans. Noise pollution is one of those influences. It also distracts students from their studies and lowers property values, which in turn, continues the cycle of poverty. Eating healthy food and taking care of your body is one good way to counter some of those issues.
How-will-you-succeed: By continuing to meet the nutrition and sustainability needs of those in the flight path. We are working with more food sources to be able to meet the increasing demand.
Who-are-you: Long Beach Community Table was originally an activist group focused on social and environmental justice. One of our long term goals has always been to mitigate the impact of environmental issues on those effected.
