What-is-project: Long Beach Food & Beverage interactive video cooking classes are a chance to virtually connect with our local chefs and bartenders, learn simple cooking skills, tricks and tips, and most importantly, support the Long Beach culinary community through this difficult time. This is a revenue share opportunity for our Chefs, so a percentage of sales go directly to the host or their business to help support our culinary community during these challenging times. We launched these classes in August and they’ve been very well received by the community. We’ve received some great press, including a piece on CBS2 News recently: https://youtu.be/zlUXmk9GsuA

How-will-you-succeed: We plan to continue these cooking classes at the very least through the pandemic, considering many chefs are either laid off or on furlough or their businesses have been impacted. Other initiatives in the planning stages are virtual chef competitions a la “Chopped” or “Cutthroat Kitchen” type competitions that will take funding to pull off.

Who-are-you: I am the organizer of Dine LBC, the orginal Long Beach restaurant week, which would have been enjoying year 7 this past August, but was on hiatus this year for obvious reasons. I have also done restaurant marketing and PR for over 25 years, in the corporate world and when I launched terri henry marketing LLC in 2011. Long Beach Food & Beverage was launched in August, 2019, applied for non-profit status in December 2019, and was just recently approved in July. With other exciting initiatives planned throughout the year, our sole mission is to support the Long Beach restaurant industry, who has been especially hard hit during the pandemic. Some of our other initiatives include:
Zero Cost Consulting Services for Struggling Restaurants (On-going)
Cooking/Cocktail Classes (On-going)
Chefs Serving Shelters (Quarterly)
Holiday Kids Pajama Drive (November)
Kids in the Kitchen Field Trips (Annual)
Long Beach Kitchen Ink Photo Gallery (On-going)
Chefs/Restaurateurs Read One Star Yelp Reviews Video (TBD)
Dine LBC – Long Beach Restaurant Week (2021)
Long Beach Beer Week (TBD)
